Hi all, Gimp has an internal virtual memory facility. The problem with it is that when the cache size has been set too low for the size of images that are to be dealt with, Gimp monopolizes the hard drive. On systems where the system swap is on the same drive, this slows down the whole machine tremendously. I consider this a bug. It's sure very unimpressive for new users. Would it be possible to detect excessive swapping activity, temporarily stop all image activities on the image making the most requests and asking whether the user really wants this? --- David Monniaux Tel: +33 1 44 32 20 66 Fax: +33 1 44 32 20 80 Laboratoire d'informatique de l'École Normale Supérieure, 45 rue d'Ulm - 75230 PARIS cedex 5 - FRANCE
