You're right about -p vs. -P, I did get that wrong. But evidently the two nm programs don't even agree about portable output. And the awk script in libgcc/Makefile.in does not expect -P output. I have no quick fix here, other than to use the GNU binutils nm. You may want to open a bug report about this, but I don't know whether the bug report should be against GCC or the elfutils. Ian
