Thank you. I often wish I had a copy of the C standard. The reply on the ticket implies it would be wrong to define these in float.h for ISO standard C, so gcc is right not to define them.

I often wish I had a copy of the C standard. It's hard to know if the gcc developers or IBM are right here.
