I'm wondering how this restriction on libstdc++ in GCC 4.4 impacts on ports
done of GCC to interix. AFAIK there are issues with the binutils provided by
MS on interix so it is only possible to build static libraries on that
platform.
Are you saying that building any statically linked libstdc++ is never going
to work until the arrival of GCC 4.5?

-static-libstdc++ will be a new option in gcc 4.5. It is not
supported in gcc 4.4 or earlier.
What sort of undefined references do you see?
