I don't have root, and I'm building a software stack (actually 4: Solaris32/64, Linux32/64), along with its own build toolchain, which lives out on an NFS share and is used across grid nodes. I don't want the new gcc to have dependencies on the old gcc that lives in /usr* -- Poor Yorick
