it compiles on my system, and for the other developers.
hence i don't know what's going on.

*shrugs* i don't know what's going on, but you can use
configure's --with-dynamic-prpls option to avoid zephyr.
something along the lines of 
./configure --with-dynamic-prpls=oscar,irc,yahoo,msn,jabber
for instance would just compile oscar (aim/icq), irc, yahoo,
msn and jabber.
