[Fedora-tools-list] upgrading glibc (from src) on fedora 2

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hi,

i've been trying to build/install glibc-2.3.4 on a
fedora 2 installation but am having problems when it
goes to install.

in the latter stages (its already copied some of the
new libc libs into place) the installation scripts run
'rm' but this fails due to undefined symbol
_dl_starting_up@@GLIBC_PRIVATE in /lib/tls/libc.so.6.
however, this still points to libc-2.3.3.

has anyone successfully built/installed glibc on
fedora 2 to avoid this? and yes, i want to build from
src. the flags to configure were:

  ./glibc-2.3.4/configure --prefix=/usr
--sysconfdir=/etc
--sbindir=/sbin \
    --enable-add-ons --enable-kernel=2.6.11
--disable-profile \
    --with-tls --enable-shared --enable-bind-now

these are almost the same as the ones found in the
.spec file for the glibc that is installed on the
machine -- the linuxthreads stuff were also placed
into the correct dirs. i used the same src and
configure
options on a different machine running an old suse
installation and that went in without problems.

i'm building with gcc-3.4.3 and binutils 2.15.

any help appreciated!
thanks
