RE: plan for Blu-ray ISO images ... test Digest, Vol 87, Issue 48

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Are there plans for Blu-ray ISO images of EVERYTHING (RPM/SRPM) install for each platform ?

These can be downloaded via bittorrent very reliably and with bandwidth control.
They should be relatively painless to make since Fedora already has an Everything directory.

It should be evident for testers using an EVERYTHING distribution to catch much more integration
issues than a base core distribution alone. Also, the ability to quickly setup and run different
configurations from local media as opposed to re-downloading from the repo again would be
beneficial to bug catching for the many different packages.

Thanks

I like the BFO method of installing. Just burn one small image, then use
it for all future installs. Thanks -- Rick

Hello.
try to install rc2 in a vm
host is F14+virt-preview
guest is configured with spice
guest was a pre-existing f15 beta + updates (till some days ago)
I chose to install new and selected my partitions asking to format all.
It concludes ok, but at reboot I get the situation in attached
image... no way...
I selected default graphical desktop withount any customization
Any hints? I could start with a live cd and send installation logs eventually
I attach also output of
virsh dumpxml
for this vm

I don't see this bug in blocker list still opened bugs:

Except for the games spin, as there is a koji bug that prevents access to
large (I think over 2 GB) images. There is an infrastructure trac item
on this as well as a bug filed against koji.

Booting from the f15rc2 dvd iso and selecting rescue and a start
shell, I'm able to mount the root filesystem.
So I can modify the file /etc/selinux/config and set
SELINUX=disabled

Then I can umount and reboot correctly from hard disk and land into
firstboot graphical screen... I also sent smolt profile...

PS: I didn't had this problem with beta dvd iso

Um...I've been having rawhide-related discussions on this list for some
years now - well before F15, or separate frozen branches, or any of that
stuff. If you look at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/Rawhide, you
see:

There are two important things all Rawhide testers should do.
First, read the test mailing list, where Rawhide users discuss the
latest changes. You'll find discussion of significant changes and
warnings of severe breakage here. Reading test-list daily is key
to staying on top of Rawhide.

If you've repurposed the test list, perhaps you would like to update the
documentation and tell both of us remaining rawhide users where to go? :)

Thanks,

jon

Where are you installing packages from? Are you using the DVD
exclusively, or using the online repos to install packages? Depending
on which repos you select, they will not have the updated dconf package
yet, and you will still encounter the bug.

Some digging suggests that this is not an uncommon failure mode for
grubby... https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=124246 dates back to
2004.

The man page is rather unhelpful on the subject of templates. I've tried
restoring older kernel entries to grub.conf from a backup, but that hasn't
helped a whole lot.

Anything else I can look at?

Please file a bug against anaconda, and be sure to attach the
anaconda.log from your installation. Given the nature of your
installation, I recommend you also attach program.log, storage.log and
syslog. These files are available while the installer is running
in /tmp/. After installation, they are available on the installed
system in /var/log/anaconda/

I don't know if anyone noticed that in RC2, it downloaded Release Notes
for Fedora 14 instead of Fedora 15. Otherwise, I have good running
install of Fedora 15.

Does the file '/etc/selinux/targeted/policy/policy.24' exist? Did your
install complete successfully, I'd be surprised if that file was missing
on your installed system. Make sure that package is intact by running
`rpm -V selinux-policy-targeted`. Inspect your install.log for any
obvious errors indicating failures while installing packages.

Also, avoid booting with selinux=0 (prefer enforcing=0). Any time you
boot with selinux completely disabled, you'll need to relabel at a
future date before reenabling (even in permissive mode).

Thanks,
James

You would probably need to do a

yum reinstall selinux-policy-targeted

To fix up the machine.
