Don't forget, laptops have been outselling desktops for half a decade, maybe longer. New laptop displays above 96 DPI are common if not the norm. And, it's typical that desktop displays are viewed at significantly longer distance than laptops, making their apparent pixel density higher. All of which makes a 11px font pretty tiny whether DPI is 120 (6.6pt), 144 (5.5pt) or 160 (4.95pt) on a laptop, and more than 96 (@96 is 8.25pt, but viewed from a 40% or so greater average distance) on a desktop. cf. http://fm.no-ip.com/Auth/Font/fonts-pt2px-tabled.html -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
