PA and ALSA do not provide a simple device node to which you can direct
sound as a stream. That's just not how they're designed. If you only
have the choice of some node to point at, that's an indication the
software only handles the OSS output format. If it handles ALSA or PA
output formats natively, it'll have appropriate choices somewhere for
these.
