Yes, I use GPT on some of my plain Opteron machines: > s parted /dev/sda print Disk geometry for /dev/sda: 0.000-4959103.500 megabytes Disk label type: gpt Minor Start End Filesystem Name Flags 1 0.017 4959103.483 lvm but the boot disk still has a plain DOS partition table.
