Please try this patch to > /etc/init.d/vncserver: Tim, I discovered there were 3 vncservers running already using :[123] displays. killing them off seems to have fixed things. Starting from a fresh login at console then startx. >From xterm: $ ps wwaux|grep vnc reader 11520 0.0 0.0 1616 448 pts/9 R+ 08:05 0:00 grep vnc vncserver $ vncserver New 'reader.local.net0:1 (reader)' desktop is reader.local.net0:1 Starting applications specified in /home/reader/.vnc/xstartup Log file is /home/reader/.vnc/reader.local.net0:1.log So all seems well. I didn't apply the patch. One thing still seems sort of wrong though. cat /etc/sysconfig/vncservers: [...] # VNCSERVERS="2:myusername" VNCSERVERS="2:reader" # VNCSERVERARGS[2]="-geometry 800x600" Shouldn't that server have started on :2 display? I expected :1 to be open because of this setting in /etc/sysconfig/vncservers
