I second his request #1.

Vadim: have you tried ndiswrapper for your wifi ?  A bunch of us run
HPzd7000 laptops with a Broadcom wifi "card"  ndiswrapper works
excellent with it.

You can find a HOWTO written by yours truly at www.zd7000forums.com in
the Linux forum.
