His view is the user using custom partitioning should know what they are doing, even though reality proves this is overwhelmingly false. Users don't know such things, don't want to know such things, and no good reason/advantage is presented for them knowing such things. So I'm trying to convince you, because you're the one in this bug producing a significant amount of consideration how to polish what I think amounts to a turd. You can't polish this thing, it just has to be ripped out of the UI on UEFI installations - no bootloader options at all ever. Get rid of it. Nothing good has ever come from this choice. Only frustration for all parties, including QA.
