I never heard of speakup before but I checked the latest F17 kernel
(3.3.4-4) and could not find speakup modules. According to the
INSTALLATION doc in speakup-3.1.6.tar.bz2 on
http://www.linux-speakup.org you need to build the kernel modules
yourself. The latest stable version (3.1.6) did not build against F17
kernel 3.3.4 but the git version did.
