If you can't change anything it is not very useful. You can turn it on and off and that is it. If you need to change the IP address or give it a fixed IP address or anything else you have to use a different app that is not installed by default. (And which requires, oddly enough, a working network.) My current problem with networking is that it drops the default route after a while. (If I let it sit over night, for example.) It does not seem to matter if the connection is actively being used or not. (It was hard enough to get it to create a default route with a fixed IP address. That part got fixed in a recent update. It still drops after a while.) If wanting it to actually work and be useful is "extreme", then yes.
