Hallo,

on https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=501130 the submitter
of a review request has posted the following coment:

Well, /usr/lib/rpm/platform/i586-linux/macros from rpm-4.6+ shows following:

%_initddir              %{_sysconfdir}/rc.d/init.d
# Deprecated misspelling
%_initrddir %{_initddir}

For clarification I want to ask for the current status of using _initrddir versus
_initddir on the packaging guildelines.

Honestly? I'd say use neither, as _sysconfdir is an overridable macro, and
if you actually use either _initrddir or _initddir in the case where
_sysconfdir is overriden, your script won't work, at all.
(That being said, _initddir is more correct, as the scripts aren't initrds.)

If so, it may be nice, if someone can correct

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/RPMMacros

for clarification.

Best Regards:

Jochen Schmitt
