You are not solving anything.

How about the Release number: Isn't it more correct to use 0.<n>.r<mm>
instead of <n>.r<mm>?  (I mean, in case upstream decides to use 0 or
0.1 as a real version number later on?)
The release numbers don't really matter. Much about them is personal preference and personal use-case.

I would reject it due to your choice of version.
