Not necessarily, but I did all the right things.  I sent a final message
to the list, then I tweaked the settings so that all subscribers are
moderated and no one can subscribe without approval.  This gives list
admins a chance to catch and redirect any messages.  The archives are
left open for posterity.  That list is now retired.

This is pretty much what Thorsten did when closing down
fedora-extras-list, fwiw.
