The reason this thread began was that sound/pulseaudio doesn't work on
a console. That is -> resolved NOTABUG.
So what is the solution where you want to use audio on a headless box?
Or your X session (if you have one) is remote but the audio output
connected to the speakers for the room is local? Or you want music to
keep playing when the local X user changes? (Macs get this wrong too,
but at least they have the excuse that they are trying to sell you a
separate device that you can dedicate to audio if you actually want to
listen to an uninterrupted song).
