You'll probably find some resistance from KDE folks to that idea though (there has been some when a discussion about CPack was held in the past), given that it the packages it produces won't be complying to any guideline. (I definitely _don't_ recommend installing RPMs generated by CPack or any other specfile autogenerator, at least not to folks who don't _really_ know what they're doing.) But it might solve your usecase, and CPack is also being looked at as a possible option by the Window$ and Mac folks, so maybe CPack support is going to be added to KDE after all.
