There already is the "Allow me to set up the partitioning" feature in 
Anaconda.  Heck, you can even use fdisk on Ctrl-Alt-F2 if you don't 
like disk druid.

I disagree that LVM isn't useful for desktop users.  I've already used 
it many times to expand my /home when I run out of space, by using 
free space I left on the disk, or by shrinking another logical volume, 
or by adding a disk.
