Leon,I don't think this has ever been about whether a piece of code is present in version 8 (using your example), but about the free (gratis) availability of the combination of version 7 with selected backports from version 8 that has been thoroughly tested by RedHat teams and their infrastructure. It is the value of the QA done that it is no longer available for free.

The code differs and its not accessible. Thats all about.
