fwupd is a great tool on laptops but completely useless on desktops since no motherboard vendors support it.

Maybe fwupd should start packaging UEFI BIOS images for desktop motherboards without vendor assistance? Images in BIN format can be easily downloaded from official websites or extracted from MS Windows packages.
