IMHO, we should not point people to this list. Sometimes packages are orphaned simply because the maintainer doesn't have time for them or the like and they would be easy to pick up. But also pretty often upstream is inactive or there's other problems that make the package difficult for a newcomer. I think it might be better to suggest pacakging something the user users thats not packaged, or looking for more simple requests on the wishlist? kevin
