Just wanted the links to more information on what will cause gdm and session manager to default to X instead of wayland. Have a laptop and desktop with fully updated system with debug package repos active and both systems default to X and will not start on wayland. This was not he case with Fedora 24 where you could select in the gdm login screen and end up with the chosen session. At the moment both gdm and and session default to X under gnome.
