The reason windows is stuck at 96dpi is lots of first-gen 17" makers cheated and their products were either a bit smaller or could not fill all the glass space (you were stuck with a black band around the picture) At 100dpi AA looks good in all reasonable sizes (I'm not talking about the people that burn their eyes on < 10pt fonts) -- Nicolas Mailhot
