An alternative to Adam's suggestions.

It takes a couple of logins as root, but running
dnf update > /tmp/dnf_out 2> /tmp/dnf_ror
in one terminal and then doing a 
less /tmp/dnf_*
in another allows a view of the updates before approving or denying
them. When you see the (y or N) in the less output, go back to the
console running the program and make your selection.  A little clumsy,
but works fine.
