You're doing it right already well, some libraries like glibc leads also in better reboot since they are used by nearly any component, but for 99% of all updates a reboot is a joke since you easily can restart servcices with nearly zero downtime systemctl condrestart service1 service2 service3 condrestart since i distribute such commands over the whole infrsastructure after tests and deployment and not every installed service is enabled on all hosts
