it is not a lie

DNF is a fork of YUM and pretends to be compatible
and if it finally replaces YUM it's just a new
generation of YUM

as said: otherwise you would have to find a new name
for any major version with large changes of any piece
of software (GNOME, KDE, Apache....)

frankly and as long there is no useful name call something "DNF" is
not helpful because it has no meaning while YUM is widely known as

* yet another update manager
* yellowdog updater modified
