Do you mean dnf will obsolete yum
In that "dnf will be called yum"
If so, can it be extended beyond F22ish if necessary.
To allow Ales (+team), maybe have time to take
on board any feedback?

dnf was originally introduced in Fedora 18 and the plan as proposed then was for dnf to replace yum by Fedora 22.  So we have some time left for feedback and correct those issues and reevaluate as we get close to the development feature planning stage of that release.  I have already been testing all this time and filed probably the most number of reports, many of them fixed already.  You are also in the bug report that Ales agreed to add back keepcache
From my perspective, there are the following issues that needs to  be fixed before that replacement can happen

* protected packages functionality (unfiled?)
* yum remove kernel vs dnf remove kernel difference (unfiled? )

yum utilities

* yum-config-manager (filed but rejected at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1044984)

Hope that helps
