Hmm? Anecdotal certainly doesn't imply amusing?

Well, if you open calculations like this one:

If you type "journalctl -b" you will already get useful output if you
are stuck in the initrd and in early bootup, at which point
/var/log/messages is not available yet, and won't be available for quite
some time still. Given that these earlier phases of the boot process are
a major place where things can go wrong, I am pretty sure "journalctl"
is a ton more useful then /var/log/messages to debug such hosed
machines...

But anyway, both of us, we can just make guesses which kind of errors
are more likely. But please understand that nothing stops you from
reinstalling the syslog implemention of your choice in addition to the
defaults.
