It will depend on whether people outside of the current GNOME use base
think so. If they do then the other forks will go away over 2-3 years
(usual timeframe for such things to work out). If it doesn't then no
they will not all go away. I mean Enlightenment, FVWM2 and even TWM
have sizable* usage bases.

* Sizable being over 200 people as at that size the group seems to
self-petuate indefinately as new people come in and old people go.
