Right. The phrase 'reinventing the wheel' is easy to misunderstand. The
practice it skewers is the one of going into an area and coming up with
your best effort at it from first principles, without looking at what
others have achieved first.

Essentially, if you're 'reinventing the wheel', the mistake you're
making is that you are failing to stand on the shoulders of any handy
giants that are around. You should always look around for some giants
before you start out.
