To add to Matthew's reply here, depending on the vendor it'll show up in boot
selection UI either as boot media that just happens to fail when you try it,
or, if they do a really surprisingly good job, it won't show up at all as boot
media. If they do a much different job then that, it might show up but be
listed as unsupported somehow, and may tell you why. I have my doubts that
you'll often see anything but the first option.
On the systems I have to test with, from the UEFI shell (which likely won't
ever be something you can run in SB=1 mode on a retail machine), the typical
user-visible error from running an unsigned executable is "file not found".
