Thanks for the info to both of you. I have reassigned https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=718719 to redhat-rpm-config. So a new variable will be needed for distr-wide LDFLAGS, the %configure macro updated and maybe other stuff will have to be touched too.
