As far as I see the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-routes script
just takes care for existing
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-${INTERFACE} files. An existing
/etc/sysconfig/static-routes files is parsed by the /etc/init.d/network
init script.

/usr/share/doc/initscripts-7.53/sysconfig.txt is lacking information.
Wouldn't it be good if the configuration information about both, device
specific routes and general static routes, would go there along with
example syntax? That's why we have the docs within the packages.
