True, they are generally not wanted, official FCx updates are the way to
go.  Anyway, fedora.us has the "patches" repository, and it does contain
some updates to FC1 packages.  If an official update does not happen and
you really need it, try submitting a request to bugzilla.fedora.us with
the "patches" keyword.  Be aware though that anything that depends on a
package in patches will need to go to patches too.
