I'm pretty certain that would fix it, and I'm pretty certain I filed
that one in Bugzilla quite some time ago...

The sound card I use when I get this problem is the Aureon MkII 5.1 USB,
of which I believe you have a copy, so feel free to test and let us know
if it's indeed a dB problem with the driver, or something else.
