Let me tell you about the `cmp` command. In my case:
# cmp /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmfusion-free.repo*
# cmp /usr/lib/security/classpath.security*
/usr/lib/security/classpath.security /usr/lib/security/
classpath.security.rpmnew differ: byte 1874, line 39

It's actually a sort of database for the info command.
