And why start being concerned about users now?

Whatever happens, the packages done after official EOL will almost
certaingly be of lesser quality than the ones pre-EOL. If you aren't
satisfied with the latter, you won't be satisfied with the former.

Errr, what? The only updates that need to be made after EOL are to fix what was already wrong. If pre-EOL quality is so good, you won't need any additional updates.
