Yes, all of these devices are roughly the same, and the big difference
lies in the coordinates on the touchscreen.

IMO, we should prepare the plumbing for those "dials" to be capable of
handling direct/indirect, but we might not want to switch the existing
indirect ones right now as users might lose functionality if they are
not using wayland.

As for the Dell one, it is currently ignored by the kernel, so we can
simply do the right thing right now and not care about the existing
stack.

As Peter said, these are entire different tools with different
purpose. These are 3D mouse that report RX/RY/RZ and DX/DY/DZ. They
are already handled properly (let's hope) by blender or the tools they
are supposed to work with, and we probably do not want to break those.

The main difference between the Dell Totem (or the Surface Dial) is in
the purpose: it is aimed at showing a menu (related to the app or not)
and navigating through it.
