In Workstation we might want to make a rule that any application can at most have 3 versions - a nightly, a standard and a LTS version - for instance. (this is an example not a concrete proposal from me :) While a spin might be perfectly happy to have Software display 50 versions of a given app or only want to allow GPL licensed applications for instance. Or only applications written using Java or whatever the goal of said spin is.
