There is a "shade inactive windows" extension you might find helpful here,
although I find that its default shading level is more than I like.

I think keeping track of "UI papercuts" is a useful thing. Not everone is
going to agree with every one, of course, but having a collective sense is
valuable, and I think we *can* put more emphasis on some of the developer
use.
