Instead we want the kernel to provide a conduit for such requests to be sent, executed by the GPU, and a result returned. If the kernel cannot process requests for any reason, e.g. GPU is being reset, or in recovery, or OOM, or there's a problem with the request, etc., the driver should return the request back to the client (user space), and let the client decide how to proceed.
