Thanks for your reply. Feeling like the casual idiot
i am not sure why i did not manage to do that.
It's a week away know and i think my fault must have been
working with stdin pipes like outlined on 
http://gentoo-wiki.com/SECURITY_System_Encryption_DM-Crypt_with_LUKS
and other tutorials.
