How to encrypt a fresh install of Dapper Ubuntu on a Laptop?

Hi,

I am fairly new to Linux. I have been using the test release of Ubuntu, Dapper
Drake for the past few weeks on my laptop.
I would like to encrypt my entire hard disk, so my laptop would be somewhat
useless if it fell into the wrong hands.
Most of the How-To's seem to assune you only want to encrypt a partition, and
are leaving the main Linux partition unencrypted.
I believe I will have to create a small bootable partion and then create a larger
partition which will be encrypted and then do a fresh install of Linux to it.

Is there anyone out there with a complete How-To for this. With instructions
from the very begining. Assume I will be starting with a blank hard disk and
an Ubuntu Dapper CD when it is relaesed in a weeks time. And also that I have
very little knowledge of Linux, But a strong desire to learn.

As it is a laptop, it has only one hard disk. I would also like recommendations
as to how the disk should be partioned.
Please excuse my ignorance if this already exists and just point me to where
I can find the information.

Regards,

Mark
