And I think everyone owes you thanks for digging into it. Tell
me if I'm wrong, but if this is a race in VM, it seems the same
thing should show up as a problem in the linux crypto patches 
as well and a fix to the kernel for one should fix the other
as well.

Herbert. have you done any 2.4.19 or 20 testing? I've not had
luck with the 19 for other reasons, let alone getting as far as
the crypto swap.
