Why do you think so? Every modification is peer reviewed before inclusion into the source tree. If your documentation fix would accidentally modify other parts, this would easily be spotted during the pull request review. Having the docs "near" the actual code improves the actuality, as new features or changes in behavior can also include the corresponding documentation updates. This also makes it easier to manage multiple branches/versions of the code, as there is no disconnect.
