Sounds like you want Plex (if sharing media is your only goal) or
http://www.filetransporter.com/ (for general purpose cloud file sharing).
Perhaps paired with a Drobo for easy expandability and redundancy.   Not
sure where Ceph fits in that picture as it is currently much more complexŠ
